Adapting to environmental circumstances has propelled Qurtuba to lean into the delivery challenges experienced by the government. Over the past five years, Qurtuba has built a new water supply and effluent infrastructure, new municipal roads with stormwater inlets of significant number and internal road and walking paths.
Qurtuba Off-Grid Electricity
The showcase infrastructure project is the construction of the first independent gas and solar hybrid power utility plant located in South Africa. Qurtuba has leveraged the powerful resources of the African sun in conjunction with gas-to-electricity technology to create a sustainable and clean electricity supply that is utilized by all Qurtuba developments. This off-the-grid solution will guarantee electricity to residents in Qurtuba and negate the effects of load-shedding.
Qurtuba Water Security
Water security and on-site water storage management are built into the development design ethos to ensure an emergency supply is available on tap should the municipality fail to deliver.
Qurtuba Precinct has adopted a security centric mentality with the implementation of the ‘Our People’ security methodology. The principal focus is on knowledge and intelligence; by implementing a keen emphasis on gathering information of all members visiting the Qurtuba Precinct and managing their exit with the aid of digital analysis. The Qurtuba Precinct is monitored with an in-house state of the art crime detection CCTV security system coupled with a 24 hour onsite control room and an exclusive company owned reaction team. The growing network of intelligent analytic cameras effectively preamp and notifies controllers of pending intrusions creating a risk averse Qurtuba Precinct.
